The Progressive Era, which lasted until the 1920s, was a response to an industrial era and a shout for reform. Its effects touched virtually all Americans and transformed the role of government in American society. The Progressive Movement was successful as it was promoted by both parties in Congress. One of the prominent players in this reform was Theodore Roosevelt.

Al-Qaeda, an Islamic terrorist group launched a series of four well-coordinated terrorist attacks in New York and Washington DC targeting major government facilities thereby resulting in the death of more than three thousand civilians in the countries. The civilians were citizens from different countries with the United States suffering the highest loss of citizens as would be expected.

Rosa Parks was born Rosa Louise McCauley on February 4, 1913, in Tuskegee, Alabama.
