As Roth explains, “architecture is the chambered nautilus shell of the human species; it is the environment we build for ourselves, and which, as we grow in experience and knowledge, we change and adapt to our expanded condition”. This growth and adaptation, like the sea creature to which it is compared, is built upon the empty shells of the past.  

This research will begin with the statement that Peter D. Eisenman (born 1932), the American architect, is well known for his architecture based on a dialectic of oppositions in architecture. Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, France, is an exemplary religious structure wherein people from different walks of life occasionally visit. Loosely translated in English as the Church of Our Lady, Notre Dame Cathedral has thirteen million visitors every year (“Notre Dame Cathedral”).

The building was designed by William Thornton, the same architect that designed the U.S. Capitol as noted by AIA (2014). The building was constructed between 1799 and 1801 and is found in 1799 New York Avenue, Washington DC. The building is three stories and features a circle, triangle and two rectangles in its plan.

This discussion talks that well-versed architects are very important in this regard if culture is to be preserved and thus my keen interest in this field. Architects are also the builders of the environment or habitation in which the populace lives at a given time. When we have well-trained architects the contribution to the community is immense.
